Okay, we'll see if this works.  This is my first entry so I don't know.  I feel totally lame even having a running blog because I am definately not a competitve runner. And I am not that fast. But, I want to keep track of my miles and see if it helps. We started today at the top of Veyo Hill and ran to the church.  I felt pretty good and pushed hard miles 6,7,8 then had a hard time starting again.  I took it easy the rest of the way and was ready to stop at the church!  Jessie ran the whole way with me and I just tried to stay with her.  In all it was pretty good.  8:24, 8:37, 8:00, 7:34, 7:30, 7:13, 7:03, 7:11, 7:55, 8:19, 7:54, 7:43, 7:47, 7:47, 7:35?

I have found keeping track of your miles actually does help to keep you motivated. I look at your times and I don't think that is slow at all. I hope to get up to a pace like yours. Good luck on your training!

From Sasha Pachev on Sat, Jun 28, 2008 at 20:53:34

Welcome to the blog!

Not sure what age division you are in, but I think your 10 K split in the middle of this run would have earned you an age division award at the Utah Summer Games. That is considered competitive. In fact, if you ran another 12 miles at the same pace, this would have earned you a spot on our top runners list.

But even if you were slower than this, the blog is not about displaying your accomplishment, but rather about improving your fitness regardless of where you start.

From Kelsey on Sat, Jun 28, 2008 at 22:07:48

I just joined today too, and I am hoping the blog will keep me motivated enough to achieve my goals. Your splits really are impressive. I see your goal is to finish a marathon... if you can train at this pace there is no doubt you can qualify for boston!

From luzylew on Sun, Jun 29, 2008 at 00:36:29

Not fast? Not competative? But you do consecutive miles in the sub 8:00's? If that's your starting point, I can't wait to see where you're headed. Looking forward to reading future workout blogs! Welcome.

Today was lame!  I think my legs were a little sore from Saturday still so I wasn't feeling that great.  I am also a little congested so that took its toll too.  I ran the college run with Liesel.  The long uphill was hard but I started to loosen up the second half.  I always take a minute to warm up and then the run is over.  Overall average=8.07  Splits=8.12, 8.28, 7.55, 7.52

I was dragging a little bit today.  Must be that Dr. Pepper I can't live without!  Note to self :stop drinking it!  Anyway today I ran Foremaster Ridge run.  Boy do I hate that hill.  My legs need more than 1.25 miles to warm up for that.  Ran by myself.  The girls really motivate me on hill days and it was brutal to run it alone.  Heading to SLC and Springville today for the rest of the week so hopefully I can get a run in.  splits= 8.14, 8.57, 7.59, 8.03, 7.50 for last .25  Avg. pace= 8.17

In Springville this weekend.  Ran through Mapleton and up Hobble Creek Canyon with Angi.  Beautiful run.  I could look at those green trees all day!  Maybe someday I will run the Hobble Creek Half...I bet it would be fun.  I took it pretty easy today.  I didn't want to have another bonk due to elevation change.  We fought a head wind most of the time that made running up the canyon brutal.  The temperature was great though.  Then when it was time to run down the canyon the tail wind stopped.  Figured.  I planned on picking up some time coming down but it didn't quite work out that way.  Fun day.  8.53, 8.09, 9.02, 8.44, 8.29, 9.05, 9.50, 9.27, 7.45, 7.55  avg. pace=8.45

Got up early today and ran by myself.  Started up Hobble Creek Canyon again but the head wind was bad so I turned around and looped through town.  Didn't feel great today.  Wake boarding and a 10 yesterday must have taken its toll on my muscles!  Anyway, it felt good but didn't push too hard.  8.39, 8.03, 8.07, 8.37  avg. pace= 8.21

Today was a good day. I ran the Bryce Canyon 1/2 and did my personal best on a 1/2! (By about a minute) Started to drag about mile 8-10. Was really sick of listening to music. Felt pretty good the whole way. Looking back, I should have pushed harder through water stops to save time but hind sight is always 20/20.  So fun to hang with the girls.

Okay today was a little interesting.  First, I turned on my Garmin and it was dead.  Ellie must have unplugged it yesterday.  So, all the info is from Jessie's Garmin.  I managed to stay with her till about the last 1 1/2 miles.  Then she took off.  I finished about 25 seconds after her so I tweaked the last part.  I decided to leave banana chunks along the way.  It worked great.  Maybe next time I will take a goo about mile 12 or so.  I was lacking energy by the end but don't know if it was because I knew the end was soon or if I just needed a boost.  I liked the feeling of no goo though.  It made my stomach feel better.  Next time bring oranges!  Hot today when we started the thermom. said 91.  I could feel it big time up those gradual up hills.

I feel bad that you been on the blog for awhile now and I just found your page. I dont think we have met but my husband and Annette's play softball together so I have heard your name before. Its fun to have more SG girls on the blog, you will have to talk the rest of your group into getting on it. Great job pushing yourself, esp at night with the heat. Running at night is so much harder!

From Amber on Wed, Jul 30, 2008 at 18:52:04

Yeah!!! I'm so glad you are on this blog too! I'm new here, but it'll be fun to keep in touch in yet another way! I agree about running at night, it's quite miserable, but until my baby is a little older night's are my best option. What was your time on the marathon after you had Macy? I just really hope to finish! You are going to do so good, it seems like you are training with pretty fast times. Are you doing any other races before the marathon?

Yes cramps are no fun! Nice splits. I was just looking back at some of your previous entries and saw your Bryce 1/2. There is a place to click "race entry" when you are entering your blog entry that will let you put in the time and what race is what. That way it will show up as a race and also show on race reports. Then the rest of the bloggers know you raced and can give you feedback.

From Amber on Fri, Aug 01, 2008 at 11:20:17

Ran on the course today.  Started toward the top of Dammeron and ran to the park.  It was a good run.  I tried to stay around 7:40  at my fastest(except on hills) cuz I think I do better if I am just consistent.  There was a point where I felt really good and had to slow down quite a bit but toward the end I was dragging.  I should have taken another Gu but I only had 3 miles left so I thought I could make it.  I did keep it at about 8:00 the last few miles but felt like I had lead in my shoes.

8:14, 7:35, 7:39, 7:41, 7:31, 7:25, 7:35, 8:02, 7:41, 7:26, 7:36, 7:29, 7:39, 7:50, 8:05, 7:55

Ran the course today.  I felt pretty good and stuck to my plan.  I didn't want to go any faster than 7:30 cuz (except downhill) I always bonk.  I felt pretty consistant till the end.  We started above Veyo so our first few miles were the hill and Dameron.  I am always excited to get to the top of those.  When I finished I realized that I had soaked blood through my sock and shoe from a blister.  I have never gotten a blister with my Asics Nimbus shoes but today was a different story.  I think they changed the toe box or something cuz it was bad news.  Now I am stressed cuz I don't know what to do.  It's not like I can go drop another $120 on new shoes!  Lame.

What a great race!  I did my personal best 1/2 time and should have pushed a little harder.  I didn't want to bonk toward the end but felt great the entire time.  Even on that monstrous hill the last mile.  I am happy with my splits.  They are as follows...
